hodge podge

Last night was the first night on our new mattress, a Simmons Beauty Rest. It was great. I like having a mattress that isn't considerably older than I am. I think our last mattress was 40 years of age. God rest its soul.

I'm not sure why this is on my mind, but I don't think it's possible that Meredith and I could have had as great of a visit to Austin as we did this past winter if the young Clarks weren't such amazingly good hosts. They made it possible for our trip to be as close to perfect as possible. Thank you to them.

I'm working on becoming an expert in research ethics. If anybody knows of any good research ethics articles, please point me in that direction. I have to compile a handbook for the Conflict of Interest Committee at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. They have to train new members somehow.

Meredith is a wonderful woman. Tomorrow is her birthday. Happy birthday, wife.

We watched the fireworks from the roof of Emily's downtown apartment building. It was really nice. We had the reflection over the lake. It did seem like the display was almost entirely a finale.

NASCAR is stupid.
